The television show Survivor is one of my all-time favorites. I love to watch people push themselves physically, mentally and socially for 30+ days. The ultimate goal is a $1 million prize. Contestants push through pain, hunger, filth, and depravity of all kinds to beat out their competitors.
When finished many say they are shocked at what they endured, shocked at their ability to make it through the depravity. This is the inspirational aspect of the show — to witness people doing more than they imagined possible and making it through to the other side.
One thing I know for sure is I could not survive even a couple days on Survivor! Don’t have the physical fortitude for it. But I think the show offers an analogy to life. Although we aren’t contestants who signed up for the pain, hunger, filth and depravity of life, we can come out on the other side, choose to think as a survivor, and be amazed at what we didn’t think was possible.
Enjoy the day!
